Chris Metzen Leaves Blizzard

I haven’t played World of Warcraft for a few years now. I spent a good deal of time buried in the world of Azeroth, especially in college. It was an amazing experience that I eventually grew apart from. I didn’t like the changes that came over the years and I walked away right before The Mists of Pandaria.

Chris Metzen – Gone but not forgotten

I haven’t played World of Warcraft for a few years now. I spent a good deal of time buried in the world of Azeroth, especially in college. It was an amazing experience that I eventually grew apart from. I didn’t like the changes that came over the years and I walked away right before The Mists of Pandaria.

Honestly no matter how much I disliked the game I still loved it. I had really fond memories of my time with my real life friends as well as the virtual ones I made on the way. It might sound silly but one of the people that I grew the fondest of was a person I have never met and probably never will. This man was Chris Metzen and he was one of my heroes.

Chris Metzen best known as the creative force behind world of warcraft

Anyone who plays World of Warcraft regularly can pick out Chris Metzen’s voice as he has voice acted many of the main characters, mainly the leader of the Horde Thrall. He was one of the driving forces behind the brand and he was one of the things that brought life into an otherwise tedious game for me. Once Blizzard started offering their yearly convention online our programmer Micah and myself made it a habit to always get together in November to take part in the antics that we were never able to attend in person. Chris Metzen always seemed to be the soul of the events. He opened the weekend with an always encouraging monologue and put on amazing panels.

Chris, I know I we don’t know each other in person and that’s ok. I just want to put it out there that you will always be missed and your work with Blizzard and World of Warcraft was always amazing. Everyone he became addicted to your drug will greatly miss you. have fun at home.
