Just admit it, we all love something about horror movies. Whether it’s Freddy haunting our dreams, encountering a Xenomorph in space or being chased by a possessed doll, we are drawn to the genre in some way. One thing Funko does best is transforming things we all love into 3 3/4 inches of collectible gold. Funko offers a variety or Horror Pops!, from Jason Voorhees to Pennywise the clown; there’s something for everyone. Since Halloween is around the corner I took an opportunity to rate my favorite horror Funko Pop! Let’s look at the Top Ten Horror Pops!
Disclaimer: this is my top ten, it may differ from yours but feel free to tell us what you think on Twitter @Nerdlifetx.
- Jack Torrance (Chase) Edition 2017
Relatively new to the Funko Horror series, this (Chase) frozen Jack Torrance Pop! is sure to add a chill to your horror collection. Released October 2017, this Pop! is offered in two variants, the other being the thawed livelier version of Jack. This Pop! will not come cheap on the secondary market though, currently $40 – $50 on eBay. That is unless you’re lucky enough to find this frozen chase masterpiece in the wild.
- Chucky (Child’s Play 2) Bloody Splattered Hot Topic Exclusive (2014)
Everyone’s favorite ankle stabbing toddler doll Chucky was released by Funko in 2014. This Blood Splattered version was a Hot Topic exclusive and even included the bloody knife. There were two variants released for this series, this bloody version and a common unsplattered Chucky. Shall we say pre and post-murder versions? With a Pop Price Guide value of $26, he is a more affordable option for your collection.
- Captain Spaulding (House of 1000 Corpses) 2014
If you’ve seen House of 1000 Corpses you’ll probably never forget the unlovable dirty clown Captain Spaulding played by Sid Haig. Also released in 2014, this Pop! features Captain Spaulding sporting his stars and stripes costume and is the only variant in this series. This is definitely one of the harder to find horror Pops! and the $65 value reflects that.
- Billy (Saw) 2014
Do you want to play a game? Or at least ride a creepy tricycle? Billy the creepy voiced puppet from Saw was released in 2014 with two variants in the series. While the blood splatter glow in the dark variant looks awesome, this common version is sure to creep any collector out for a fraction of the cost at $10.
- Ash (Ash vs Evil Dead) 2016
Ash vs Evil Dead on Starz has revitalized the Evil Dead and what better way to honor the series than by owning the axe hand, shotgun-wielding Ash himself. This Pop! was released in 2016 and was released with this and a blood splatter variant from Entertainment Earth. This Pop! is also an affordable addition to anyone’s collection at $10.
- Freddy Krueger Syringe Fingers Hot Topic Exclusive 2015
One, Two Freddy is coming for you. Freddy Krueger haunted many children both on screen and at home and this is a unique version essential to complete a Freddy Krueger collection. Released in 2015 as a Hot Topic exclusive, it’s an addition to the 2011 variant and features Freddy Krueger sporting his syringe fingers. This variant is considered hard to find but comes with affordable value at $38.
- Predator SDCC Bloody Variant LE 1008
“Come on, kill me, I’m here, come on, Do it now!!!” This is where the countdown becomes a little more expensive, but each remaining Pop! is worth every penny. This bloody Predator variant was released at the San Diego Comic Con in 2013 and comes in both cloaked and regular versions. However, this version was limited to 1008 units and paired with another item on the countdown at that convention. Getting this Pop! is both difficult and expensive at $195.
- Alien SDCC Bloody Variant LE 1008
“Game over man, game over.” This green bloodied enemy of the Predator was also released in 2013 at the San Diego Comic Con and was limited to 1008. Luckily it also comes in a much cheaper non-bloody version. Both the Predator and the Alien are some of the few horror variants selected to be comic con exclusives and are a must-have for the seasoned horror collector. This addition will not come cheap at $250.
- Pennywise All Variants
Everyone’s favorite floating clown Pennywise took the Funko horror series by storm in 2017 and continues to do so. This Pennywise is from the 2017 horror smash remake IT, in theaters now. There were 5 variants of this Pop! with exclusives at Walmart, Hot Topic and FYE, including a chase variant that has already been vaulted. This is the IT (pun intended) item to have right now. But unless you can find these in stores your wallet will take a beating with the collection estimated at $229.
- Jason Voorhees SDCC Unmasked Exclusive
With a face, not even his terrible mother could love, Jason Voorhees SDCC Unmasked Exclusive tops the countdown. Congratulations to all those unfortunate souls lost at Camp Crystal Lake making this award possible. Released in 2015 at the San Diego Comic Con, Mr. Voorhees was limited to 1008 units and is one of the most sought-after horror pops. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on one these pops, make sure it’s not facing you on the shelf. This tiny bit of ugly is both the most expensive and hardest to find on the countdown valued at $270.
